During the stillness of COVID, I began writing from my dreams. What started as fragments slowly formed into a narrative shaped by longing, distance, and unexpected connection. Around the same time, I found myself drawn to Asian cinema — stories told through silence, restraint, and emotional depth. Something in those films felt familiar, though I couldn't yet explain why.
Then, on a small island in Crete, I met a Korean couple who had once lived in Chicago — the same city I had called home. On the western side of an island thousands of miles away, our paths crossed.
It wasn't a love story. It was a friendship. But it mirrored the very themes I had been writing about: souls recognizing each other across geography and culture.
Coincidence? Perhaps. Or perhaps life simply reflects back what we are already carrying inside us.
This story was born from dreams — and from paying attention to the quiet connections that weave through our lives.
